So, do older/more established skins have a responsibility toward the wanna-be freshcuts?

define "responsibility". if you mean that: -because they're a freshcut they think they can run their mouth at a show that the crew is at and expect that everyone would immediately have their back? -or a responsibility to watch over them when they're blowing chunks and passing out in the beta bars parking lot? -or a responsibility to ensure that they understand the history and subculture that they will inevitably be expected to explain to others that question their new lifestyle decision (thus a direct reflection on other skins in that area)?
i think it depends on whether you're willing to take the responsibility of acceptance, and if you've taken that responsibility there's really no question.

I am not a skin so fuck some little ass kids. Just kidding being that you all were so good to me when I was young I wouldn't be against keeping a eye on them. Now if they do some dumb shit well that is all on them. -shane

I think I meant those second two. If a kid wants to pick a fight, let them fight it.

I will be nice and explain things if they don't understand but I am not going to baby sit if they are causing trouble. -shane

Yeah, but I wouldn't leave one passed out in the parking lot, either. So somewhere in there.

If we want the scene to last past us, we have a responsibility to pass that scene down. That includes making sure it's not just assholes with no concept of the history, so it's up to us to make sure that history is understood. Making sure the scene still stands for working hard and playing hard, and for looking sharp when others take the easy punk way. That's another lesson we're responsible for passing down. But we also have to teach that you watch your buddy's back, even if you may not agree with him or her, but that you have to be willing to stand you own one-on-one.
If we want these ideals to survive, it's our job to make sure they're understood by freshcuts.
