a while back i was home sick and laid up so i spent the day watching old movies, one of them was "enemy of the state" with will smith / gene hackman. when fred called later that day i told him i'd watched that movie again and it made me want to come up with a new holiday where everyone answered their phone by saying "....." okay, you'll have to ask me in person what you'd say, not typing it here. sorry.
after saying that stupid phrase on the phone i started having a lot of problems with my phone. static, clicking, unable to make calls or answer calls coming in... put in a report to embarq, problem fixed. about a month later we started having not only all of the problems i mentioned before, but our phone strangely started making 911 calls and sheriff's would show up at our door. called embarq again, problem solved again.
so this past sunday, low and behold we get a phone call, can't answer it and the static and clicking were back and 30 minutes later a sheriff shows back up at our door. called embarq. again. the repairman showed up monday morning and i explained to him how this problem keeps coming back so he goes out to the main box to see what's going on. he comes back and tells me that out at the main junction box we have a phone line connected to our main phone line that does not go to our house. "huh? well where does it go?" he just raised his eyebrows, smiled and shrugged, then gave me his cell phone number and told me he disconnected it and if we start having problems again to call him and he'll come out and disconnect it again.
am i just paranoid or does this mean what i think it means?
on a more positive note, this weekend i finally got a real bed. i no longer feel like a squator in my own home. i feel human again. yippee!
