for those of you that didn't watch the presidential debate all you really missed was mccain coming off as a pompous ass. although obama did tend to put a (very) little more "meat" into his answers and mccain played the sympathy card (yet again) for his p.o.w. time, not much was missed. i will say that obama came out looking more "presidential" than mccain. but i also think that he needs stand up to mccain a little more and quit letting the man talk over (and down) to him. however, for those of you that have missed any of the palin interviews? shame!!!!!!! i saw the gibson/palin interview which truly just made me pause and ask "whaaa... ?? are you SERIOUS??" and then the h&c interview which made me chuckle, but the cherry topping on her cheesecake of stupidity was the couric interview. the snl skits are only slightly more funny than watching that interview in it's entirety. i know a lot of people are screaming "foul!" to the media for being "cruel" to this woman and so harsh in their judgments of her. but i think the real cruelty was for the republican party to choose this woman as a running mate (which was an obviously blatant stunt to pull in the undecided clinton supporters) and have the public spot light turned on her. was this the best female within the republican stable of back-biting wanna-be's that they could find? seriously? ? i mean, the woman's record is shady and her bulb is (at best) dim! this was the cream of the republican parties female crop? ? as far and as hard as women have pushed to be taken serious in the political world, this stunt is going to set back so much ground that has been fought for. she could single handedly make me ashamed of being a woman. through all of the hilarity of watching them struggle to make this woman appear in any way "capable", i can't help but to find that through my laughter, i still find a slight vile taste on the tale end of each chuckle. how long will it take before female candidates can be taken seriously again after the dust has settled from this debacle? and yet, i can not WAIT to see the v.p. debate on thursday. i'm such a sadist.

I can't deal with the stupidity. I know who I'm voting for anyway, so I'm saving myself the violent hatred.

i had much of the same thoughts, deb. i thought obama looked more the part and i thought it was disrespectful of mccain to not ONCE address obama directly or to even look at him. i thought that was pretty shitty.
but i also thought neither of them really "won" the debate.
but i can't wait to see palin get slammed in the VP debates. oh yes, it is set on tivo.

yeah, and obama was so busy trying to play the role of a gentleman and a statesman that he let mccain trod all over him. it was a little disappointing. he needs to come out a lot stronger in the next debate. i don't know that i could give either one a win point.
if biden isn't in a coma he should make mincemeat of palin.

after considering it a moment, i take back my last comment. biden could be in a coma and still score a win over palin. after all, people have voted into office dead men and dogs.

not to mention that saying nothing at all is better than saying something moronic...

well, i'll give them points for coaching her.
after watching the vp debate, i will admit that she was able to keep her nonsensical rants to a minimum, but i swear i don't understand how people can think she "held her own" last night. questions that she didn't understand, or was absolutely clueless about, she responded with rhetorical spin that had nothing to do with the question. and she did that on at least 50% of the questions. and a good few of the answers she gave should've scared the holy buh-jebus out of anyone that actually listened to the answers (rather than being dazzled by her wink-and-a-smile posture). like that bit about how our fore-fathers brilliantly left room in the constitution for expansion of the v.p.'s role in the senate? say what?? lady, you may want to add the constitution to your reading list of "all the media-ms".
in my humble opinion, and yes i am very politically opinionated, i see this woman as another Reagan. i don't think the woman is an out-and-out liar. i think she truly believes all of the spin that is being pumped into her melon is true and right for the country. i just think she's too ignorant to know any better.
and that's my two minute soapbox rant. for today anyway.

"i think she truly believes all of the spin that is being pumped into her melon is true and right for the country. i just think she's too ignorant to know any better." true, but no matter intentions she has, there's no way that can serve our country any good, in my opinion. she's spent way too long preparing for this debate and still blew it in my opinion. All I heard was reminders of Alaska and her avoiding answering question.
Biden didn't do too hot either, I think. They're both morons, I guess it's just down to which one annoys you less.

hmmm... i wouldn't say that biden isn't a bright man. of course i also wouldn't say that he isn't as crooked as every other politician out there today... i would however say that palin is as dumb as a hollow dust ball. and it's scary to me that she's being "trained" by some pros to appear as though she's got a lick of intelligence, and some people are buying into it.

I realized while watching the VP debate, that Joe Biden has a great speaking voice. I love the way he projects and words his speeches. While I may have not necessarily agreed with everything he said, I still gave him my full attention everytime he spoke.
I just don't even want to talk about Palin. I have no effing words.

i sort of thought similar to the lines deb was thinking. although i really didn't think there was a clear "winner" in this debate, either. i was frustrated that every time palin was asked a question she would be like "yes, well, i think we need to go back to taxes" or whatever. pain in the ass. but i also thought i was nauseating that biden kept going back to the bush administration and making the same points over and over. i was like "will both of you just quit with the poly sci talk and just fucking answer ONE question?!?!?'
oh, and on just the "smart" discussion, i got this in an email a while back. i found it pretty interesting.

agreed, but you all know how I am when it comes to articulating my thoughts in a constructive way....=]
yeah, a while ago I signed up for the Obama move on email list. now with all the crap McCain says and the responses Obama gives in emails to us, it's like watching two kids tattle tale constantly. this is all very sickening. I've just started scanning and deleting (if I even make it THAT far).
I fully support voting and exercising your rights, blah blah. In my opinion, if you don't vote you lose your right to bitch about the aftermath, but I just have no clue what to think about all this. There's Obama and all his "hope" standing with twisted Biden (I agreed with Lala half way though). Due to his choice in his running mate, it makes question everything he's claims to stand for. and then there's MC and Ms. P.......

oh girl, i made that mistake a long, long, long (damn i'm old) long, time ago too. signing up is like telling the giant propaganda machine "here i am! spew on me!!!"
the best advice that i could give someone is to vote against the evil of the lessers.
anyone that steps into the political arena has soiled him/herself by merely stepping in. and i think a lot of times it's naively. it's like wanting a puppy really badly, only to find the next morning when you drop your foot on the floor there is something smelly and squishy between your toes.
all we can do is hope that 2% of the promises these folks make are sincere. and once in a blue moon someone comes along that is sincere with more. of course, those are the ones assasinated or impeached. of course some of those were real cruds too. hmmm...

haha, I didn't do it for the emails, I just wanted a free sticker and was too lazy to go somewhere in town that had them so I had it sent to me (I rarely go out ever these days). And still, I have to plans to stick it to anything, I'm just a nerd who keeps weird things like newspapers and cream cheese boxes so I can have the recipes inside still.
