one of the songs i really like from fear city is pulling up the boots. i knew it sounded a lot like a song in romper stomper but didn't think much about it. but today i was wondering if it was a cover and, if it was, who it was covering. so i googled the song.
it came back as a screwdriver song. am i listening to a screwdriver cover?
i know fear city isn't nazi so i'm not worried about that. i just want to know.

No, that's from Romper Stomper. All the songs in Romper Stomper were put together strictly for the movie. It gets labeled as a skrewdriver cover a LOT, but it's not. Also, in case ya didn't notice, Fear City changes the lyrics up to make it about beating nazis. The guy who wrote it all, John Clifford White, is the brother of the director, I think.

i didn't catch the beating up nazis reference or i wouldn't have even thought about it. i didn't think it was nazi, per se. i know skrewdriver did non-WP stuff, too. so i thought it might be one of those songs. like i said, i wasn't too worried about it. i was just curious. i liked the song in romper stomper (i don't remember if the lyrics were nazi in there i just mean the tune). and i really like this version.

Yeah, I can't remember the Fear City lyrics, but if you listen closely you'll see what I mean.

That makes me think of a couple years ago at school when Colin put on skrewdriver in the art room unknowingly. He had some mixed cd playing then skrewdriver comes on and it took a second to actually register in my head but I was like whoaa Colin what the fuck is that? Apparently he had downloaded the song on limewire, under cock sparrer and he had no idea that it was about.

Yeah, downloaded shit comes up all kinds of sketchy. Like, there are a BUNCH of old sick racist country tunes that get attributed to Hank Williams or Johnny Cash that they had nothing to do with.

that's what's scary about some of that stuff. to my KNOWLEDGE, i have never heard a skrewdriver song. i have heard they are really good if you can forget the politics. but i can't forget the politics. so i choose not to listen.
but my guess is, at some time, i have heard one of their songs and not known it. and, odds are, i may have even liked it.

the one in romper stomper was racist, but a few other bands re-did the song b.c people liked the tune and they just took out the racist part. ultimo asalto(spanish version), fear city, maybe someone else but i forgot.
lyrics from the one in romper stomper: "Hanging in the lane way, waiting for the scum SMASH THEIR YELLOW FACES, kick their fucking bum When they plee for mercy, we will show none Skinhead, skinhead, 'til the job is done."

Oh and I do not agree that skrewdriver is in any way a good band politics or not. I don't see how people listen to that shit especially being a non-racist skinhead. and you would be surprised at how many of them actually do. its fucking bullshit.

Jacob - the Brassknuckle Boys do a cover of "The Voice", which was originally by SD. They changed the lyrics up, though.
