okay, technically, when i am writing it, it should say vote tomorrow. but i know nobody will read this until tomorrow. Florida Primary Elections are on Tuesday, January 29th. If you are a registered democrat or republican, you can vote for your candidate in that group to help choose which candidate will represent that party come the general elections in november. there are also some referendums on the ballot that any registered voter can vote. something on property taxes. i honestly don't know much about it but here is a place you c an watch the results come in and maybe get some more information: election.dos.state.fl.us/go vote!

yea, so you can't vote on the presidential candidates. but you could vote on property taxes. i need to read up on what the property tax thing is. i don't want to go in and read about it in my little booth and try to make a decision. although that is probably exactly what will happen.

I follow all that mess. I'll probably go vote before work. I go to the Georgia Belle old folks' home to cast my ballot.

yeah, derek was devastated that he had lost his voting rights. over fucking salt in an envelope with crayon writing on the outside. go fucking figure. i've looked over that amendment 1 at least five times now, yet i still can't for the life of me see where it benefits education at all. i absolutely hate all the "do it for our children" and "it's good for education" horseshit they spout when all it's saying is that school tax funds won't be effected. they try to hit us where they know it will scare us the most. our children. and if i hear one more damn politician spew they're own version of "children's healthcare" bullshit i will scream. honestly, healthcare for children is a minimal expense in the whole "healthcare" world. i mean, sure, going to the doctors office is costly, but what about healthcare for the elderly? the ones that are older, sick and NEED care the most? i've had my folks on medicare and seen what they cover and what they don't, and the elderly are fucked! or what about the firemen and policemen that won't get additional help or pay increases because some rich fatcat doesn't want to pay full taxes on his "non-homestead" (aka - rental / vacation) property?? sorry, i just read it again and i'm venting just a bit here. i should've done like jacob and turned it into 16 posts instead of one long one. then i'd be a accordian hero too!

Yeah, I'm a no on 1, too. Major, important, needed services are already getting shut down without this blow to the tax base.
Do I think Florida's system needs a major overhaul? Hell yes. Do I think this is the way to start? Hell no.
Just the list of libraries that will be shut down if it passes is enough to turn me off the idea.

yeah, but it's good for our schools, right?? shit!
seems like the older i get the more frustrated and disillusioned i feel with our political system. they won't stop me from putting my mark where i feel i need to put it, but it's just depressing when i see people falling for the same old used up shit over and over and over again. and i used to want to point my finger at the republicans and blame them for all the worlds woes. bah! i'm such a cynic now. and i'm angry because i've let the system make me feel this way. and i use the only thing i've got to battle it, my vote, and pray that it'll really count. this time.
