Oi Fest

i just read about this. its not concrete yet (so limited details) but i'm putting it on my internal calendar...

Oi Fest Labor Day weekend at the East Atlanta Icehouse.

if this is the fest i remember, they start out with a huge list of awesome bands and by show time it's down to something not so spectacular. it is def one to keep an eye on though.

Atlanta's oi fests go back and forth. They used to throw some pretty amazing ones, so it depends on who's putting it on. Any details yet?

Adding: the Icehouse is the old Echo Lounge. That's a good space, I've seen plenty of shows there. Not sure what this new venue is like.

I've seen two bands mentioned so far, Armed Suspects and Alleged Bricks. The Bricks are pretty good, aggro oi.

the person i talked to is the one actually organizing it and she is holding back details until the big names confirm. i think she must be aware of the perspective deb put out there so she is trying to keep that from happening.

i tried to see if they needed any local-ish bands to see if the scars could get on but she was already full (assuming everyone confirms).

as an aside, it is also dragoncon that weekend, which loosely translates to goth looking chicks in spandex. and stormtroopers. i plan to make a weekend out of it.

it laid around my office for about a month before it finally occured to me that rabbi oeirchman or one of my other clients could stumble across it which could slightly skew their opinion of my clean, honest business persona. so i tossed it in the trunk of my car next to a 1/2 full bottle of jack daniels and drove around for a good month before i thought i could get pulled over and have a cop find whiskey and midget porn in my trunk, which may not shine the most positive light on me.

so now it's at home.

will you be in town? i am seriously planning on going. i want to go to both. i have a friend in ATL and he went to dragoncon last year and has told me NUMEROUS times that i have to go this year. i'll have to see how the two time out, but i really do want to go to both if i can.

I'll skip Dragoncon, although last year I really wanted to see the Klingon vs. Furries bowling match, but I want to go to the fest if I can.

im thinking, if this pans out, people could split travel costs and go to whatever they want to go to. some to dragoncon, some to the oi fest, and some to both.
